In order to safely decommission our equipment, we highly recommend factory resetting our devices prior to disposal. A factory reset erases all configuration from all of our devices, preventing any sensitive information from being exposed.
Resetting the EyeAllow & Access200:
Disconnect it from the IDS first. Then, navigate to the device's web page and at the top click "Diagnostics", then "Take offline for diagnostics". On the device's screen, press your finger on the screen and hold it there for 4 seconds, then let go. Proceed to the on-screen Settings menu, then Device, then Factory Reset".
2. Click the "Settings" button at the bottom of the device's screen.
3. Select "Device" from the list of options.
4. Select "Factory Reset" from the list of options.
5. Click "Reset Now".
The device will now perform the factory reset procedure. On the screen you will see text that says "Performing factory reset..." with a black bar that will fill as the process completes. This process typically takes approximately 5 minutes. When the process has completed the device will display the "Set me up" screen and display the device's IP address.
Resetting an IDS Appliance:
In order to perform the factory reset, you will need to use the buttons on the front of the appliance box.
- Press the red "X" button. This will bring up the display menu:
- Press the right arrow button once to scroll to the right. You will then see "Settings: Factory Reset" on the screen:
- Hit the green check button twice. First to access the reset menu:
-Second to confirm the reset:
- Press the down arrow to begin the reset:
- Wait for the device to complete the factory reset process.
This will initiate the factory reset process. It should take less than 5 minutes. When it is complete the screen will display "Factory Reset: Reset complete.":
After that screen is shown, you can press the red "X" button again and it will return to displaying the status page.
The IDS software may take a couple of minutes to initialize after the factory reset has been complete. During this time the device will say "Connecting...". When it is complete it will display "Identity Server" and the version number.
In the event of neither device being reset prior to disposal, the EyeAllow & Access200 won't retain any data due to the local cache being cleared when being disconnected from power. The IDS Appliance will, so it is crucial to either store it in a highly secure location, back it up (see Back up the Identity Server (IDS) – Princeton Identity) and perform a factory reset, or return it to Princeton Identity for disposal as soon as possible.
