Older Access200 readers with the optional internal card reader are configured from the factory to operate in standard authentication modes (i.e. Biometrics only, Biometrics-OR-Card, Biometrics-AND-Card) or Biometrics-ON-Card mode. However, in some cases a customer may want to change the reader's configuration. The following steps will convert your Access200 reader from one mode to the other, or vice versa.
NOTE: Converting from standard mode to Biometrics-ON-Card mode, or vice versa, requires the use of a Princeton Identity-supplied configuration smartcard. Please contact Princeton Identity (support@princetonidenity.com) to acquire the correct smartcard.
To configure for Biometrics-ON-Card mode from standard mode (i.e. Biometrics only, Biometrics-OR-Card, Biometrics-AND-Card):
- Start with the Access200 in an unpowered/unplugged state.
- Power the reader via PoE+ or an external 24VDC power supply while holding the PI-supplied Biometrics-ON-Card configuration smartcard against the card reader location during boot up. You can remove the smartcard once you hear three beeps.
- Let the reader fully boot, then disconnect and reconnect power again to reboot the device a final time.
- From there, log into Identity Server, then to the Access reader itself, and configure the device for Biometrics-ON-Card (from the Access device homepage select Settings>Mode>Change Identify Mode).
To configure for standard mode from Biometrics-ON-Card mode:

- Power the reader via PoE+ or an external 24VDC power supply while holding the PI-supplied standard configuration smartcard against the card reader location during boot up. You can remove the smartcard once you hear three beeps.
